Bukhoor Arabic Incense

Bukhoor Arabic Incense

Bukhoor is the Arabic name given to scented blocks of incense or a blend of natural traditional ingredients. Wood chips called Oudh, the Arabic name for Agar wood, are soaked in fragrant oils and other natural ingredients ( resin, musk, amber, sandalwood, essential oils and others) and small amounts of these scented chips/ blocks are burned on charcoal in incense burners to perfume the house and clothing. Once burned the bukhoor fragrance is much longer lasting than incense sticks or aerosol sprays.

Traditionally, in many Arab countries, the bukhoor is passed amongst the guests as a gesture of hospitality.

At The Olive Tree we stock both scented blocks: Touch Me, Etisalbi and Naseem, and scented wood chips: Sakina, Renad, Jameelah and Inayat. All of our bukhoor is made in the UAE.
